Industrial rollers and large cylinders are used in paper mills, steel processing, textile manufacturing, printing, and material handling. These components are essentially long tubes with a precision bore that carries heating oil, cooling water, or simply serves as a structural element. I have machined rollers from 1 meter to 10 meters in length, with bore diameters from 20mm to 300mm. The length-to-diameter ratio is extreme – often 50:1 or more.
